**Abstract [#y118565b]
-A region of interest (ROI) is a selected region within an image identified for a particular purpose (e.g. tracking, viewing high quality). Image codecs has to decode ROIs in a lower bit rate preferentially. JPEG2000 has a function for ROI decoding, but the coding performance degrades if the number of ROIs is increased. We develop a new algorithm for multiple ROIs based on the JPEG2000 algorithm.
